Hi very new to working with and editing video please bare with me.
I have Ulead VideoStudio 10 and have just managed to burn my first dvd.
What I would like to do now is store my mov video clips to dvd incase I want to use them in the future. It wouldn't be possible for me to keep them on the hard drive because of the space they use up
I have already started to edit and join a number of clips into files (Mpeg 2) ready to burn to dvd.
Could anyone please tell me if I am going about it in the correct way as this is the first time I've tried this.
I did try downloading my clips direct from my JVC Everio onto a USB Flash Disk memory stick but found they wouldn't play !!
I would be most grateful for any advice many thanks in advance.

  2. So what you are asking is, can you put your files onto DVD? Yes of course you can. You will need a burning program though. I use Nero. If you want to use the same disc over again, you will need a DVD-RW disc though. I find the Nero Express application the easiest to use. Make sure you have DVD specified and not CD. Simply make a data disc. Add the files you want to burn and presto. Before wiping them from your hard drive though, just check that they are burned to the disc properly otherwise you may have lost your files. A single sided 4.7 Gb DVD disc can hold about 4.2 Gb of data FYI.

Personally I would archive the files with QuickPar and 5% redundancy rather than burn them as straight data. That way, even they become slightly corrupted in the future, you can still use them.

Thanks to you both for taking time to answer my question.
Hi kadzbiz I have Nero Express and DVD-RW discs. I was just unsure as to the best way to go about storing my video files. The last thing I wanted was to loose them or corrupt them so thanks again for your help.
I'll have a look at QuickPar and 5% redundancy so thanks ntscuser for that bit of info the more the better.

Cheers for now all the best,
