  1. Does a program exist that will allow me to rip a Music Video DVD with about 60 videos on it back down to individual mpg files. Each original mpg was a track on the DVD now.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

You could rip it with any ripper you want in chapter mode (assuming chapters are individual songs). Then from there use something like vob2mpg to convert each indivual vob file to mpg. Or if you plan on reauthoring but not editing you can simply import the vob's as is into an authoring app that accepts vob.

  3. If those 60 videos are on 60 individual title sets on the DVD, yes - there is a small and free program called VOBEDIT, it has an option to extract video, audio or both from a DVD - so in this case you could have it extract 60 m2v files and its respective ac3 files - I've done it myself ! If the 60 videos are 1 sequential file with chapter marks you will have to export the 1 file and cut them manually and export to individual mpegs, you can do that with mpeg video wizard (womble) - you can use IFOEDIT to check where the individual chapter marks are at as well.

  4. Thanks, I've decided to leave them in a VOB state. Do you know what is the best program to use for converting VOB to DVD. I am a nero fan..but just curious what everyone else thinks.

Now, my favorite method for accomplishing your original request quickly and easily is the Import DVD tool in Ulead VideoStudio. You can also just keep going with it and use it to reauthor a simple DVD, as per your second request.

You can also accomplish something similar with TMPGEnc DVD Author.

  6. Converting VOBs to DVD is fairly easy, since VOBs are containers for MPEG files, subs, audio, etc - you can import the VOB directly in your authoring program and take the rest from there - I use TMPGDVD Author 3.0, it does a great job, you can import almost anything too.
