Hey people. Im having some trouble with a cd i got from relatives from india. They have made a party film, and sent it over, i would now like to make a copy of that cd.

But when i insert it into the drive, it opens the disc as a folder, which has 2 folders one contains the video as shown below:

The highlighted file is the actual video, the other two files are small custome made files (i.e. anitmated menu sayin this is party of..so & so etc) then once that has finished showing the party film starts.

And below is what was in another folder:

This i have no idea about lol i dont think there any thing major. And dont need to be re-burned....

So if anyone can help me out, showing me how i can re-burn these files back to cd so they play in my dvd player (which the originals do) that would be very much appreictaed.
Just to let you know there are 2 CD's both of them contain a party film of around 500MB each disc, if i could burn these both to 1, 4gb disc that would be great.

    Thank You

P.S. Plus i think they seem to be some sort of unknown files but play with VLC player.

appears to be vcd. click on the what is vcd on the home page here in the upper left corner.

the easiest way to copy is to use a disc copier. cdrwin/alcohol 120%/ or just about any other cd copier will do. if you have 2 drives you can copy on the fly to a new one. if not make an iso image of the cd and then burn it. just copying the files off the hard drive onto a cd won't work.

if you search bit you will probably find a guide for converting vcd to dvd if that is the way you want to go.

Seems to be regular VCD files. I assume it plays like it is on a set top player?

What you could do is rename the extension of the AVSEQ03.dat file to AVSEQ03.mpg and you should be able to add it and the other video files into a authoring program and burn them to a DVD. You only need to change the audio from 44.1khz to 48khz to make them DVD compliant. I assume they are PAL (25fps) framerate?

BTW, if you aren't seeing the .dat and .mpg extensions, you can switch them on in 'Folder Options>View' by unchecking 'Hide extensions for known filetypes'.

If you just wanted to copy the disc to another CD, ImgBurn can probably do that by using 'Read' then 'Write' modes.

No. This won't work. Read the responses you got ropdoh's. You're going to have to do work here or else do a disc to disc copy with something like CDRWIN/Nero/etc. to copy 2 VCDs to 2 VCDs. If you want everything on 1 disc, you HAVE to convert it. Or you could buy SVCD2DVD and let it do the work for you if you want a simple, but not free, solution to get everything on 1 DVD.

    Chana1,

I've used Burnatonce (freeware) which is a cdrdao / mkisofs gui for windows, to burn VCD's. Haven't done it in quite some time, but I never had problems with that application.
