Hi, Im trying to burn a 700MB divx file to a 4.5GB dvd-r on nero 7 however, it says that the size of the video file exceeds the space available it takes up around 4.6GB, this is a reoccuring problem with several other files.
thanks

Burn it as data. If you want a Video DVD, you need to convert divx to MPeg2.

Yes, burn as data. And the reason 700 MB is a common size is that it fits on a CDR, which is a bit cheaper than a DVD if you're only putting one file on a disc.

That's 'cause you're using a template from the Nero Smartstart menu. Is Recode part of your Nero package? Click on the button on the left of the Smartstart menu and expand the menu to show the tools. Select Nerovision, in the menu click make DVD, click DVD-video, import files. Edit and add chapters, create a menu... When you get to the burn page, change the target to folder on your Hard Drive, make a new folder and pick it, click burn. If you didn't get Recode with Nero, download DVDShrink. Using one of those, import the DVD you just created and it will fit on a disc now. Make sure to go through the options for Shrink and enable the quality settings. In Recode, just check the two boxes at the bottom of the burn page.
