    HI,
I've been having problem with my dvd shrink program crashing at various times. For instance it will make it to 50% of the encoding stage on the movie casino then crash and my computer will simply turn itself off, the same thing happens on the count of monty cristo only that one makes it to 62%. Now i've used ripit4me to get the movie off the dvd and used fixVTS program on the ripped files. THen i use dvd shrink for the rest of the process, but it still crashes everytime at the exact same percentage completed. I've tried disabling the nero burning option in dvd shrink and also not watching the video preview while it is encoding but nothing has worked. If anyone has any ideas and how to get around this problem i would really appreciate it. Thanks

DVD Shrink is a resource hog. It sounds like your pc is overheating.
Try to close as many programs running in the background as you can.

Shrink isn't anywhere near as hungry as a full blown encoder, and the OPs specs should handle shrink without breaking a sweat.

When it crashes, is shrink crashing ? or is the machine staopping, freezing or restarting ?

  5. HEAT. open your computer case and run Shrink and see what happens.

  6. If same result, run a RAM checker/diag.

just for the heck of it, try ripping with DVDFabdecrypter. Cant't hurt ,and it's worked for me,when R4ME fails.... good luck!!!!! but it's rare when it fails.....
