I'm new in this area. I have two DVD players (one regular, one for PAL with PAL to NTSC converter) and would like to connect them both to my surround sound receiver, which unfortunately only has one coax digital audio input. Optical is not an alternative. I don't want to constantly disconnect one and reconnect the other player. Is there such an animal as a "combiner" (maybe the same as splitter?) that allows me to have two coax-in combined to one coax-out? I can imagine a simple $1 Radio Shack "Y" won't cut it.
Thanks,
Andy

In a pinch, you could got to Radio Shack and get an RCA audio A/B switch box and just use the "LEFT" channel of each input and the output...

You may get away with purchasing a high quality base band or composite video switching box.
Don't like your chances combining them the transmit and receive end like to see 110 ohms to ensure
good signal transfer. Generally the bitstream is transmitted continuously even if not data present.
They will not like being combined at all.. -
Thanks, but I'm not sure this answers my problem. I don't want to "combine" the digital audio signals at all; only one player will be used at any given time, the other will be switched off. I just want to avoid manually unplugging the digital audio cable from my receiver every time I switch DVD players. The video signal is no problem; my TV can handle that easily. I'm basically after a "reverse splitter", feeding the digital audio of two DVD players into one connector at the receiver end but only one at a time, so there shouldn't be any interference or such.

Then I would opt for Cornucopia's solution of a A/B audio switcher.
Digital video is not RF, so any switcher with RCA jacks in/out should work fine.
And welcome to our forums. -
Here you go ,it works great.
