I've just burned my DVD movie, and it plays OK on my computer.
Everything looks in the right place.

However, when I go to play it in a DVD player, the picture is off-centre (to the left).
I am in the UK using PAL.

Is there a way of rendering it to make 100% sure that it display properly in my DVD player?

Also the DVD will be played by some people in the US... any comments?
    Tks,

I think you'll have to explain in more detail what and how you've gone about this.
One thing that may manifest itself like this, is when you use a non DVD standard frame width. (352, 704 or 720).
For US use, you have to create a DVD to NTSC standards. NTSC will play fine on most PAL equipment, but best would be to create 2 versions.

Thanks Mats, I think I was using a non-standard frame.
The default one is 720x480. What is the standard DVD frame settings?

I would like a good quality as the movie is just 10 mins long.

What settings would you suggest I use, and would these settings look equally as good played in a DVD player and through a laptop/desktop?

    Tks

720 x 480 is NTSC. Your player is probably playing OK, however your TV might not be happy with the output if your player isn't outputting true NTSC. Some players do half-arsed conversions by default. Make sure your player is set to output NTSC format if the source is NTSC, and not pseudo-PAL. Otherwise you will have to convert the video the PAL, which may give you other issues.
