  1. Nearly all FLAT TVs has a light source that will need replacement after two or three years.

    * Plasma direct view TV uses plasma cells.

    * LCD direct view TV uses EL light sources.

Direct view TV light sources will faded overtime. How long do they really last, and can the TVs be renewed ?

    * LCD and DLP front and back projectors TV uses lamps.

The lamp in projection TVs tends to fade or die after a few years. I found out many front/back projection TV lamps are really difficult to get hold off. Without a working lamp the TV is useless.

Are majot labels like panaosonic, toshiba, jvc, sony, pioneer TVs lamp available from factories or retailer, or is this a dice toss ?

I would suspect they would be available from the bigger electronic parts retailers, they should also be available from the manufacturer. There are always exceptions of course, especially if you are dealing with a model that was replaced by newer technology.
