    Hi,

I ripped some movies into my hard drive using the DVD Shrink. Now I want to make the menus for these movie. I offen used TMPGENC DVD Author to do this. But I wanted to keep the original subtitles in some of the movies and I couldn't do it with the TMPGENC DVD Author. So I tried to use DVDLab Pro 2 to do it, but the subtitles color came out very weird. Instead of the original clean white or yellow subtitle, they came out different color like dark yellow with green or black outline.

I have tried many times with different movies but they came out the same. Does anyone have any idea? What's is the best way the add a custom menu the the ripped DVD movies and still keep the original subtitles?

I have searched a lot in the forums but I have not found any thing yet. May be I missed it somewhere.

    Thank you.

  2. Hi-

I don't use DVDLab, so someone else will have to help you with it. But there's an easy fix to subtitle colors. When all done, open the DVD in PGCEdit. Double-click on the movie in the left window and in the new screen you'll see the CLUT (the 4x4 block of colors). Your outline and main colors are probably in the top row. Click on them in turn and change them to whatever you like. OK your way out of there and back to the main screen. Save and test.

I have a similar problem but the main color of the letters is transparent. Another trick to correct this with PGCEdit or another tool ?

  5. Hehe, you'll have to use DVDSubEdit to make them opaque again:

Yes, it works. I had to change all the clut ! I do not know what mess DVDL puts in this !

A problem though. I have a 16:9 video in a 4:3 window. When I set the main color in DVDSubEdit for the color of the letters, i.e. yellow, it fills also all the space under the 16:9 video from its bottom edge to the border of the window, with the same color, i.e. yellow. This is ugly. What does it mean ?

  7. Could it be that you changed b (which is supposed to be transparent) to opaque, where you meant to just change p to opaque?

yes, I changed b to opaque because it is the main color (the corpse of the characters), I do not know why. It is NOT the background color. e1 is the background color, for, if I turn it to opaque as it was, I do not see the video anymore (the subs are about 720x540). Yes, the bit's functions are shuffled, but what can I do about it ?

  9. I'm sorry then, but I don't really understand. I haven't had that particular problem before (whatever it is), and I've never used DVDLab before. There are several ways to create subs for DVD, and I might suggest using a different one.

Or perhaps someone else (Manusse?) has some better ideas.

Never mind, I am exploring another way of transferring subtitles from ProjectX to DVDLab. Because the way through Subtitle Creator, then SubResync, then DVDLab, seems hopeless. Everyone transforms the images and the palette, and DVDL in the first place, and one ends up with a terrible mess!
    Thank you
