burning problems

i burned a the mpeg to a cdr , it is there but no dvd roms or players recognize it . i can open windows media player and it will play in there fine , but still the dvd wont just play it? i dont ave this problem when i convert avi ro mpeg , only when i rip dvd , i used smartripper , dvd2avi , and tmpge . any info would be good help and appreciated .

did you burn the .mpg file as data cd? if you did, you need to burn it using nero's (S)VCD templates (mode 2/xa). only that way will most standalone players recognize it.

no i did not burn as data . i burned as vcd . my dvd rom will play the vcd ripped from a DVD . but my stand alone wont . my stand alone will however read a avi converted to mpg . i dont understand that .

thank you for your help , but the problem was my burner took a dump on me , i replaced and now its fine thanks again for your input .
