I have just burned a films onto a disk. It works fine on my playstaion and one of my dvd players but not my one. On my dvd player it says no disk after a while. Other backups that i have not done myself work on that dvd player but not my ones. I burn using nero 7. I even erased a disk that i knew worked, burned another film on it then it didn't work. What am i doing wrong? thanks

Most likely explanation is media. Some players are picky about the types of media that they can read, not all media works in all players. Does the newly burned disc work in the other two players? If it does, then you will need to try a different brand/type of media in the problem player.

the newly burned disk works everywhere but my dvd player. What do you mean by changing the media?

In my opinion if you intend to keep what you have burned for some time, it is best not to use RW media.
Some older DVDplayers will not read RW media, or only marginally detect them - perhaps working for a while then failing, or working intermittantly.
Of course some older players do not like many brands of DVD+R and DVD-R as well. -

Nero will burn both video disks and data disks.
If you are not using Nerovision (or another authoring program) to reauthor into DVDvideo, but are just telling Nero to burn your AVI files, you are burning a data disk.
If you use Explore to look at your DVD and see AVI files you have a data disk.
If Explore shows a video and an audio directory and the video contains .vob files, you have a DVD-video disk. -

You'll need to have a standalone dvd player that can playback (divx) avi files. Not all brands of dvd players can do that.
