illegal disc ?

i've just tried to burn some avi files using nero, and i got a message saying "illegal disc " and "can't start disc at once" i'm using ridisc dvd-r and have been for a while and never had any problems. i burnt the files with a different brand of disc and it worked fine. anyone know what the problem could be?

Without a log file, it's difficult to tell. Your firmware may need to be updated to recognize the other brand of disc.
What brand name of discs are you using?
What version of Nero are you using?

the discs which worked were sony dvd-r and the ones which didn't were ridisc dvd-r. i'm using nero start smart. as i said i've never had a problem before
