    Hello everyone.

I would like to know what other people that had this unit (or not) think about it.

It seems like a good deal.
All i want from a DVD recorder is good picture quality, stability, dv input and a recording time scheduling. All those extra features like playback while recording is worthless for me.

It will be used primarily for capturing from a MiniDV cam, but I have a collection of VHS tapes that i will transfer to DVDs.

It seems that if i want a dvd recorder with DV input i have to go for a unit with HDD, am I right?

I could change my mind, if anyone could suggest something else, problem is that i'm in greece, and it's a little difficult to find Toshiba, JVC or even other LiteOn models, but its flooded with sonys and pioneers.

    All comments are welcome.

Hi, the SONY RDR-HX727 and the
RDR-HX725 would be good, yes it has a hard drive and is beyond what you need,
.....You only have sony and pioneer in your country?
Maybe you have some Philips players? well the PHILIPS DVDR3400 has no hard drive and has a dv input and is at a good price..Its interesting there are hardly any pioneer DVD players in Ireland and England. But they are good quality

  3. Don’t know about prices in UK
To my thinking the Liteon is a good choice. Both for quality and price. If you are copying commercial VHS tapes you may run into MV copy protection. I have seen reports that it can be dealt with, possibly with the SCART connections. But I don’t know.

I think you will find a good number of units with or without HDD that have a
DV (IEEE 1392] input, A unit that says IEE 192 Is most likely a DV input

Check this site. The prices would indicate that the 5045 is almost the same price as one without HDD and is very good. ---[Type in at search --- Liteon DVD player/recorder] They should have other mfg units also

Bad luck, the store run out of LiteOn and said that will not bring any more

So i got an Yamakawa DVR-665, from what i see its OK. It does all it says, but...

I can't figure out how to connect my Sony HC-27 cam to it through FireWire.

I connect it with a 4pin to 4pin connector, turn the cam on, and put it in the playback state.

But the recorder says "DV status - No DV".

Is there something i am missing, something that is common for all, or should i search for the problem in the compatibility of the devices...

    aqtivator.

Sorry I can't help you with your question but I was hoping maybe you can answer one for me. I have a Yamakawa 288 that I have loved but it appears to be on it's way out.

My question is where did you order your Yamakawa from? I am having trouble locating a reseller. I only speak english so most of the sites that appear to carry any Yamakawas I can't communicate with.

Your response would be most appreciated.

I dont think i can help, as i am in Greece, the store had them ready to sell.

You could try the online translators, i contacted the yamakawa.de using english-german translation.

Good Luck, hope you find it
