It's probably a rebadged BENQ 1625 or a rebadged LITEON drive according to this thread at cdfreaks.com:
    http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=161378&page=2&pp=25

manufacturers will use other brands of dvd burners. i/o magic used rebadged BENQ 1620 and 1640 drives. the sony 810a and plextor 740a are also rebadged BENQ 1640 drives.

  4. I believe Lite-On mfgs the HP drives.

Today, I purchased the I/O Magic IDVD16DLS from Staples on sale. The back is stamped as Benq 1655 and it is recognized by all programs I've been using as a Benq. Works great and is extremely quiet.
