I got a computer hooked up to the router and three wireless. I started out with the wired one about a year and a half ago. Then added a wireless and set up a network by going through the Network Setup Wizard. No problem there. I added a second and third wireless this year and went through the wizard again and again no problems.
So now I got another that I want to hook up to the router. This one will be wired. The problem is that it refuses to go along with the program. It goes through like everything is setup right but when I check the IP, it has set its own IP number. It is not able to connect to the internets. It says it connected to the same named network as the other computers but none can see each other.

I use fixed IP addresses for my computers. I set them in the router first instead of using the DHCP server in the router. That way everything stays the same, instead of the router handing out the addresses. I've had less problems setting up new computers on the network that way.
Then I just use the set address in the TCP/IP tab in the computer. I don't 'Obtain an IP Address automatically'. You need to know your DNS server addresses also, but the other computers probably have them listed. Or call your ISP. The router (Default gateway) will usually be 192.168.0.1 and the Subnet 255.255.255.0 -
there should be a release dhcp and renew dhcp in the router settings. then release renew your computers ip.
or you could just do what redwudz said ^ ^PhenII 955@3.74 - GA-790XTA-UD4 AM3 - 2x4 Corsair Vengeance@1600 - Radeon 5770 - Corsair 550VX - OCZ Agility 3 90GB WD BLACK 1TB - LiteOn 24x - Win 8 Preview - Logi G110+G500 -
The router is 192.168.1.1. It automatically assigns 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101 and so on. Even if I manually set the IP on this computer it will not conect to the rest of the network.

3) set the DNS to point to the router (192.168.1.1)
4) set the gateway to point to the router (192.168.1.1)
Then from a command prompt type IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS
Then IPCONFIG /REGISTERDNS
Then try NSLOOKUP YAHOO.COM and see if you get back a proper IP destination address
Then PING YAHOO.COM
(if this is a private network only, replace YAHOO.COM with the name of one of the other machines) -
