I have an AVI file which plays fine on my computer.
I am trying to convert it to DVD format, but TMPGenc, DIKO, GSpot won't even begin to start with it, throwing up error messages:
DIKO = 10:13:20: DIKO was not able to open one movie file. This error generally happens when the source movie is read-only, which is very commom when you copy a movie from a CD. Please remove the read-only attibute and try again.
TMPGenc = File "...." can not open or unsupported.
GSpot = The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
I have used Virtualdub to try to sort this out (after looking in your forums for "problem avi's), and that had no effect on the avi.
Like I said, the avi plays fine on the computer, but there mist be something missing somewhere!
Any help gratefully received!
Ian

In addition, when I open the folder where the avi is stored, I get this weird graph thing called "AVI Chunks" .... Yoikes!

There seems to be a problem with the file name and attributes.
Many programs require a simple name, no funny characters, not too long.
Open an Explorer window on the folder where the file is, right click on the file icon, choose "Properties".
Uncheck "read only" if that's marked.
Rename it to something short and simple, like "video1.avi"
Similarly for the folder name. -
