  1. Currently I am using ffmpegX to make the *.m2t files into DV files then I use Toast 7 Titanium and make my DVD. Is there a quicker way to make a DVD? This is the only way that I know how to make it possible to make files that are compatible with iMovie & FCP. Is there an easier or faster way?

Have you tried to take your .m2t files directly to DVD format with ffmpegX? There are 3 presets. I'd try the "DVD ffmpeg" preset.

In theory, if ffmpegX can decode your file, it can also encode to any other format it supports.

MPEG Streamclip reads those files and can export them to MPEG that is read by Toast and others.
