I already have encoded my video to an MPEG-2 dvd compliant file and the accompanying audio/soundtrack to either a AC3 or mp2 file.So far so good.I'm reasonably happy with the quality of both. Now I want to get these 2 seperate but closely related files without any further loss of quality (at least to the extent possible within reason) onto a dvd which will play in most computers and stand alone dvd players.
Now one of my options is U Lead's Movie Factory 5 which has a tendency to re-encode the imported AV files regardless of whether they need that process or not when trying to burn them to dvd which contains a menu. That frustrates me and I think I may have unfortunately wasted $50 on that all-in-one program.Anybody use that app and can tell me how one can successfully achieve a transcode (is that the term I should be using?) to dvd? Thanks!
Another choice is Nero's Express Vision 3 which came free with a DVD combo burner I got for my computer. The help file is of limited use, what I really need is a guide (perhaps one of you gents would be so kind to tell me the steps)to guide me along the process with that particular application. Thus far my attempts via trial and error has yielded unsatisfactory results.
My goals are naturally:
1)audio and video in perfect sync.
2)the material fits on a single dvd.BTW,the length of my movie is always less than an hour total.
3)There is very little or further quality loss as the files are already dvd compliant.
Is there a low cost solution that's easy to use & a "no brainer" which will put this issue to rest for me out there along with a guide to see me through?
All comments,suggestions and recommendations welcome.
I'd especially like to hear from those who are familiar and have hands on experience with Vision Express 3.Is this program good, excellent or just aceptable for the task at hand?
Thanks so much,
Bruce

If your audio and video are separate already, use the freeware dvdauthorgui (check the tools section) to author the DVD.
If they're not, find a way to demux them and then use dvdauthorgui.
You won't regret it. It transcodes NOTHING it re-encodes NOTHING ... it just takes your compliant m2v and audio streams and creates a DVD structure on your HDD. It can also make menus if you have a compliant image file made for that ahead of time.
After it's done you can burn it with Nero or the burning program of your choice. I'm sure guides are available, look for them listed in the dvdauthorgui section after you've searched it in "Tools" over there on the left.Even a broken clock is right twice a day. -
If you have encoded both the video and audio to DVD complaint format and both will fit into a 4.37GB DVD, then all you need to do is author and burn it. I use TMPGEnc DVD Author for that most of the time, but the freeware GUI for dvdauthor or DVDAuthorgui should be able to do that for no additional cost and no re-encoding.
