Is there anyway to download movies off the interent, burn them onto a cd and then play it on the PS2. Is there like a mod chip for it?

  4. I haven't heard of anything for the PS2 but the PS1 has an add on that allows you to play VCD's.

    Hitachi DV-P415U and a Sony CD-RW CRX120E

Thanks for your brilliant advice Kdiddy. Unfortunately some of us have jobs and don't have time to cycle through tons of posts when using the search functions

Your alternative would be to author vcd as dvd. Programs like tmpgenc dvd author will accept vcd mpegs and convert only the audio to dvd specs (48khz). That would be a good alternative, and generally fast too.

The other option would be to use an mpeg converter and go from mpeg1 to mpeg2 and then author it like a normal dvd. However you have to use media you know the ps2 will accept. I've heard that the ps2 isn't the most forgiving to dvdr blanks. But use what works for you.
