There are a couple of 'media player' discs out there that supposedly allow you to do that; I believe I've seen at least two... but I don't know what they're called, offhand. (Not sure, but I think one is from Interact.)

I believe one of those allows for direct play from a data disc. My sister has a different one - you have to have the PS2 broadband adapter, and it lets you stream DivX/Xvid/OGM files to the PS2 from your PC. (I'm not sure how well it works, though.)
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

no i meant...if i burn a dvd with 6 avi converted movies, will the PS2 able to play it?
if no then how to make it do that?

  4. No the PS2 can't play Divx that is burned on DVD like what you did.
But if you have modded your PS2 you can run SMS media Player and that will play the divx.
But you have to burn the avi files with a PS2 cd compiler or with Nero and choose DVD-Video and put the files in the root.

    good luck

Can't be done without modding, I'm afraid. Some swap trick may work, but is really not worth the hazzle, considering what a mod chip costs and can do.

    1) By installing a mod chip.
    2) By getting a "swap disk" http://www.swapmagic3.com/.

    No other options.

You can't run the sms player on a non modded PS-2 .... the mod is needed to make the ps-2 play burned disks ... as you will need to burn the sms player onto a disk then it won't run on a ps-2 without the mod .... quite simply ... go get your ps-2 modded ... modchips are very cheap these days and there are plenty of places willing to fit one for you or if your able to read a circuit diagram and can use a soldering iron then you can fit one yourself.

    ...you run SMS Media Player.

I should note, however, that the players I mentioned don't require you to have a modded PS2 (or use the swap trick). They basically load like normal games. The problem is, they may be difficult to find. (At least, I've been spending a bit of time trying to find them on the net. )

The one I mentioned that my sister has (the one that lets you stream from a PC) is the Game Shark Media Player. I still can't remember the name of the other one I saw that would definitely let you play DivX/Xvid from a burned disc. However, I think the latest version of the Action Replay Max may also let you do that.

if your looking for something free u cant beat sms player

NO!! swap trick need !!! for sms player all u need is a exploit for the slimps2 but you'll need a codebrecker to put the exploit on ur ps2 and to BOOT it A exploit is like a gamesave that u transfer to your ps2 by uesing a usb flash drive its very ez to do its alot better then having to perform the swap trick every time

ar-max can play divx movies but it takes forever to boot its very slow also sms as more features then ar like u can play the divx avi or mp3's files over your network on your ps2 with RadHostClient or u can burn them to a dvd with nero

and with a exploited ps2 you and run home made application SNES-Station is a Super-Nintendo emulator

    go here for exploit

How many times, in how many ways do you have to be told you have to either
    a mod chip
use a swap disk (link to swapmagic previously supplied)
    or
using some kind of exploit (link provided).
A mod chip is by far the simplest way.

As this is a video site, how to run homebrew apps on PS2 may be better answered in a PS2 forum?

  25. Modding you PS2 would cost more than just buying a cheap divx player. Hence, the rub.

True, but modding it has other advantages too - Like making it possible to make backups of your expensive game disks.
One scrathed original avoided, and you've got the mod chip financed.

  27. Yes. But you can't backup those swap magic disks, you have to buy new ones.

True. But then again - if you have a mod chip, why bother with Swap Magic?
