this might not be a video question but relates to PAR and RAR files:
I downloaded a set of PAR2 files and after opening the program the result was a file type called .cbr
don't know that this is or what to do with it.
thanks and appologies is this is not the correct place to ask, but this group is extremely knowledgable and polite!
cheers

Print this out and stick next to your monitor:
.cbr=.rar
.cbz=.zip
change the extention to the other, then it will unpack.

There's a number of apps for OS X that'll let you 'treat' the archives (.cbr/.cbz, or even plain .rar and .zip, if whoever created them chose not to rename them to cbr/cbz) as digital comic books (one's referenced in ffooky's post, but there are others, including FFView and Jomic, so you can take your pick. Search on MacUpdate and VersionTracker for more (I think I even saw one from Japan, that wasn't listed on either).)
Or, as terryj suggested, you can always just treat the .cbr like a normal RAR archive and view the images inside as you normally would.If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
of course as usual right again.
changing to .rar worked. they were comics!
but the ref by ffooky is a link that seems to be broken!
