    hi everyone,
wonder if you could help me out please. I want to burn some video files to a dvd which can be watchable on normal dvd players and pc's. I used adobe encore 2.0 to make a menu for the dvd i made and this plays a series of tv episodes. I burnt this to a dual layer DVD-R (although it does say 'RW' on the actual DVD despite saying just a normal DVD-r on the cover).

I have heard that in order to view some dvd's on normal dvd players you need to close the DVD or use bitsetting but i have no idea how to do this and all the tutorials abtou bitsetting tell me i have to have an HP dvd writer or a richeo one (or something like that).

Anyone got any ideas how i can burn this DVD in encore so i can watch it on any platform without losing any quality.

If you can help please email me @ funkmasterkp@hotmail.com

    Thanks guys

    Bitsetting is only for dvd+r/dl.

It is just to burn and be sure to not make a multisession dvd, it should be enough to use default burning settings in encore. But DVD-r dual layer dvdplayer compatibility is not as good as dvd-r.

I don't know if you will lose quality as I have no idea what your source video is, avi divx/xvid, dvd mpeg...

Closing, or finalising, is a function of DVD recorders, and not required for discs burned on a PC. I wouldn't even worry too much about bitsetting at this stage.

I would suggest you start reading these threads for DL creation, bearing in mind that DL has a lot more compatability issues than single layer, and even bitsetting won't fix a lot of them.

The only context I could see for using shrink in your case would be after you have created your video_ts folder using Encore. You could then load it into Shrink, process it with no compression (by adjusting the max size in preferences), to create an ISO to burn with DVD decrypter.

However there are better ways to do it.

so do you think if i make an image of the project and then burn it with IMGBURN it will be more likely to play on mpore dvd players?? Also, for some reason adobe encore wont let me save the project as an image because it says that the volume is ful despite having over 17gb of space left (the image size is 7gb)
