I did a full backup of a DVD DL with DVD shrink and made it as an ISO on my HDD. The ISO plays great. I then burn it onto a DVDR DL with Alcholol 120. The burning when great, no errors.

When I try to play it either on my DVD player or back on my computer it wont play. I just wasted a DVDR DL now.

Skip using shrink for full backups if DVD decrypter will work. Try this method below. Works flawlessly for me everytime and all software is free!!

    1) DVD decrypter: Use ISO read mode. Works nearly everytime. If it works, burn image to DVD-DL with IMGBurn.

-by the way: if the original disk is single layer, as identified in DVD decrypter, then don't waste a more costly DVD-DL disk use DVD-R and save

    2) Rarely, and I mean very rarely DVD Decrypter will have problems (usually Sony Arcos), if it does then use DVD Fab decrypter to copy in file mode to hardrive, then make ISO using DVD Shrink 3.2 (version 3.2.0.15) with the IMG Burn "add on" in full disk mode to burn DVD-DL

    3) Cheap burners work fine if you have up to date firmware installed

    4) Cheap media is not worth it, Verbatim works flawlessly for me with no coasters to date. Most posts in this forum that report burning problems can be eliminated with quality media

Bottom Line: The Programs are FREE, they will ALWAYS work, and you get a PERFECT copy

Are u saying the ISO I made from that DVD9 (7.8GB) isnt good eventhough I can read it with a virtual dvd drive.

I burnt a few DVD DL before on this drive, with no problem, though always wasnt my dvd image.

so do you think if i make an image of the project and then burn it with IMGBURN it will be more likely to play on mpore dvd players?? Also, for some reason adobe encore wont let me save the project as an image because it says that the volume is ful despite having over 17gb of space left (the image size is 7gb)

Check Shrinks settings to make sure "Remove Layer Break isn't set".

But I agree with the others - DVD Decrypter is a much better choice for ripping - in all circumstances.

That was the problem. I'll try again.
