  1. I used Super to convert a rmvb clip to mpg.

I use AVICodec to look at the mpg output from Super, it shows:
    Video : 363 MB, 1150 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 352*240 (4:3), MPG1 = MPEG 1 (VCD), Supported
    Audio : 70 MB, 224 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], Supported

However when I input the mpg file to TMPGEncDVDauthor 1.6 it reports an error aginst the audio.
    *Illegal audio format.
    Illegal audio format.
For a standard DVD you can only use the following audio formats:
Dolby Digital (AC-3), MPEG-1 Audio Layer-2, or Linear PCM.

Any idea what I did wrong ?

As an immediate suggestion before I go to bed , demux the audio and video and see if it accepts the audio and video added seperately from the two selectors in TMPGencDVDAuthor . Or if the DVD isnt being made full , convert the audio to PCM and use that instead . Both of these suggestions dont so much tell you what went wrong but let you make the DVD .

To fault find what went wrong , you could demux and then remux the mpg and see if Super is messing that up . The only thing that is wrong (or non-dvd compliant to be more accurate) with the file (that I can see immedialtey) is that it is 44100 Hz and TMPDVDAuthor will need to convert that again to 48000 Hz . TMPDVDAuthor will convert frequency , have you ticked the selector for "Re-encode the audio using the output format of this track" .

But personally I think Super has given you a non-standard audio soundtrack to your mpg .

I just double checked with TMPGDVDAuthor inputting a MPG1 (VCD) file , it did as I thought automatically tick the convert selector , so it must be Super giving you an out of spec audio to the file .
How to fix it ? convert to PCM or reconvert it to DVD 48 Khz audio , at a stretch remuxing might cure it (its worth a try to stop an extra conversion) , personally I convert any rm files to DVD by outputting my video cards output into my DVD recorder as Ive found severe problems with the sound on conversion especially out of sync problems .
