  1. I get the following error.

[!] AVI: Variable bitrate (VBR) audio detected. VBR audio in AVI is
non-standard and you may encounter sync errors up to 5686ms when
attempting to extract WAV files or processing the audio in Direct Stream
Copy mode. Full Processing mode is recommended to decompress or recompress
    the audio. (bitrate: 136.2 ± 17.8 kbps)

When I try to Save to Wave File, i get the following Error.

    [!]Error initializing audio stream decompression.
No installed audio codec could be found to decompress the compressed source audio.
Check to make sure you have the required codec.

I do have the right codec installed, I even reinstalled the codec.

Obviously using virtualdub (or mod ?)

Can you post a g-spot 2.52b screenshot of the clip to confirm that you have the correct codec installed.

VirtualDub has problems with some mp3 streams (bad header). If you search the vdub forum you will find a solution involving a hex editor. Otherwise use something else to decode.

I prefer virtualdubmod, however I suspect it will also choke on this one. Best bet would be goldwave to extract and save as wav.

  8. Actually, No matter which Xvid/Divx file I open, I get the same error.

[!] AVI: Variable bitrate (VBR) audio detected. VBR audio in AVI is
non-standard and you may encounter sync errors up to 5686ms when
attempting to extract WAV files or processing the audio in Direct Stream

    the audio. (bitrate: 136.2 ± 17.8 kbps)

The only thing change is the numerical values depending on file. The strange thing, it just seem to just started recently. I have not use VirtualDub for last 3 weeks. Nothing has changed until problem started when I tried using VirtualDub.

In the past, I had something similar error message. Yet, I was able to save the file to the wave per guides and recoded with the new wave file. The similar error has been ask several times in several post by many people. The above error is unique and there no yet having similar issues.

Something has changed. You have either updated or replaced a codec, probably related to mp3 decoding.

You will only be getting this message with VBR MP3 encoded material - as g-spot will confirm.
