Check out codecs -- basically they're the software that compresses your captured video, & what you'd use recompressing/re-encoding it into another format. You might be able to capture using another codec, which would reduce your original file size -- might not even have to re-encode to something smaller.

    Petar:

    Try Stoik Video Converter here:

The basic program is free, unless you want the professional build.

In what format are your captures? That's a rather vital piece of info for suggesting how to convert ??? to AVI.
If it's mpg, I'd also suggest AutoGK or avi.net

I'm having the same problem here.

I captured a 1 hr video and it is about 2gb in size.

I would also like to either convert it to AVI or find some program to edit it since I only want a portion of the video to save.

I tried AutoGK but when I try to bring the video in I get "No video stream was found". This video plays fine in the original file.

I have also tried opening the file in Adobe Premier but I get "Unable to open that file. File was recorded at an unsupported rate......."

This is a capture from Tivo so it named it "xxxx.tivo". I assume it is in the format of mpg, mpeg... something like that.

    Thanks for any help,
    Debbie
