    AVI.NET has never failed me.
It produces DivX/XviD files that are compatible with standalone DivX/DVD players
And runs perfectly well on Windows Vista

  5. Daemon Tools to mount ISO
DVDDecrypter in IFO mode to extract movie to single VOB.
DGIndex + AviSynth for filtering (optional)
VirtualDUbMPEG2 or VirtualDubMod to convert to Divx or Xvid AVI.

How about converting from the Divx/Xvid to standard DVD so it can play on any DVD player? What is the easy and reliable program can convert from either format?

  8. If I am not mistaken, avi.net has the highest user rating in the Tools section of this site. I would suggest that you try this first.

    I'd do this.

Probably is not needed. VirtualDub has filters too, if you did want to filter. Preference, I guess.

    Hello lordsmurf

I tried DVD Decrypter in IFO mode, but the DVD has multiple VTS folders and hence multiple PGCs. So how could it be tackled?

  13. That usually indicates a TV series with serveral episodes. Extract each episode in IFO mode with no file splitting. That will give you one VOB per episode.

  14. Has anyone tried AviDemux 2.4? I'm running it now but I'm
curious if anyone has had good luck with it. I just got done messing
with HandBrake and I thought it might be a winner... until it crapped
out 1/2 way through a DVD telling me it failed reading the HD. Uh,
    that's uninstalled!

Other than VirtualDub and the others mentioned already in this
thread, any other good Windows freewares? I"ve used StaxRip in the
past but the UI is just too counterintuitive for me(and I could
never figure out how to get it to process audio to other than mp3)
