I have some *.vob files.. I can't author them as DVD in Nero - as they will reencode??
So if I put 'em as data files in DVD (data disc) - will they be playable in my DivX/XviD Hardware player??

No, you'll still need the IFO files to go with it.
How about extract the MPG from the VOB, then re-author it? -
it depends on the divx/xvid player...try on rw media...you might have to change to .mpg extension.
but if it's vob just reuthor to a real dvd and it will work. -
thanx for all ya ppl's replies..!
I didn't want to re-author as re-author == re-encode!!
However, The VOBs play perfectky in my DivX Player- I've tried!
and yeah then IFOs were also put in the same directory!
Thanx! -
Which divx player are you using ?
Hi-
I didn't want to re-author as re-author == re-encode!!
Nah, IFOEdit can do it easily. Open it, and in the bottom center hit "Create IFOs". Load your Vob(s) and take it from there.
So it would'nt re-encode if the IFO is edited?? -
In fact no decent authoring app I know, even can reencode!
