  1. i have an avi that is in sync originally then out of sync after encoding with mainconcept.
I've had this problem before and simply saved wave with goldwave and used that for audio source.
that method is not working now.
i've tried saving wav with virtualdub full processing mode and it's still out of sync after encoding.
the audio is MPEG-1 Layer 3.

Constantly out of sync? If so, just add some silence/cut some off the start of the wav to compensate. Not all AVIs are interleaved with audio and video streams "aligned".

Adding some silence at the start of the audio (or chopping some off) isn't that hard either. (The hard part is to realize that it IS out of sync! )

  5. i should of said a solution that doesn't involve my judgement.
as in i have to view characters talking and decide if it looks in sync then adjust settings.
i remember once i just chopped the first minute off avi and that solved problem.
however using womble just now i got it pretty spot on in second go

  6. Look for a door slamming to adjust the sync to.

If it is CBR MP3, use virtualdubmob. Streams->StreamList. Right-click on the audio stream and choose Interleaving. Use the Audio Skew field to add or subtract the appropriate offset. Preview in VDub until you are happy, then save with Direct Stream Copy set for both video and audio.

There is no automatic way to fix this. You will have to do it manually.

True , you cannot save as mpeg ... but ... some people are silly here , try this .

    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=270071 (vdub frameserving - avi to mpeg1 or 2)

    Simple ...

As for the question of audio sync , take a look at vdubs "options" , then "preference's" .

Go to "Avi" tab ... click that second option , then either save or accept , now open that avi and try again ...

Not sure what the ... it actually dose , if anything , but vdub will nolonger complain about having found vbr audio .

No more info in help file about this ... but worth a go to see what dose happen , according to it vdub will not try to correct the audio , just use it as is .... in this case , fingers crossed ... and hopefully it will be in sync .

I would suggest you dont frame serve it to bbmpeg ... this audio may cause unkown issue's ...

Something else to figure out today ... where'd I put that avi now ....

  10. thanks for replies.
my confusion over virtualdubmod arose as the avi only goes out of sync after encoding now if i put encoded file into virtualdubmod and can only save it as an avi, what's the point?
i will try your method when i have time Bjs.

Thing is, you don't have to save it at all - just frameserve (feed) it to an mpeg encoder. If it will rectify your sync prob - who knows?
