Hi
I have used both megui (v0.2.6.1064 and the latest beta) and ripbot in my efforts to learn the best ways to rip ts recorded files so i can archive and watch on my ps3.
conversions done with a bitrate of 1000 seem to work just fine, although once i go to anything bigger (such as using the ps3 profile in megui3, or the console profile in ripbot, or manually setting a bitrate in a profile using megui2) my audio becomes out of sync.
I really want to encode at a semi decent bitrate (4000 or so) so it looks good on my 1080p tv! 1000 isn't as good as I would like.
I am at a loss here, and have spent about 20 hours trying different things and different programs, but it seems to come down to the bitrate I encode at. Is my hardware I am encoding on an issue here, or does that simply affect the encoding speed?
Cheers
keiron

Are you streaming to the PS3, or playing from the HDD ?
Do the videos play OK on your PC ?
If you are streaming you may not be able to feed the PS3 fast enough if the bitrate is too high.
I don't know what type of drive the PS3 has, or what speed it spins at, but that could also be a factor.Read my blog here.

I'm testing only on my pc at the moment - and that is where i notice the sync issues - it is a 30 second clip i recorded (1080i) for testing, prior to doing this with longer clips.
I havent tried playing on the ps3 yet
pc is a laptop with an amd turion64x2. i have successfully played high bitrate mkv files, and also the original ts files -
OK - the files actually work just fine on the ps3 - so must be my laptop. What a waste of many hours.... now o figure out how to get dolby digital.... i noticed the mkv files i turned into vob i have downloaded have dolby digital....
