Why would you want to ?

Easiest way - DVD Remake Pro to join the discs with a simple menu at the top.

Use DVD Shrink or DVD Rebuilder (with custom target sizes set) to squeeze the crap out of them to make the fit onto a single DL disc.

Take pot luck on where the layer break will be.

I don't believe there is a best or smoothest way to do this

  3. You need to ask your question with a bit more clarity as to what you intend to accomplish. I made a single DL disk from two DL originals, where the movie was split across two disks, and what I wanted was a single disk with no "disk flipping":

    1. Ripped the individual DVDs w/Shrink (no compression) by re-authoring the Movie Only and stripping-out unwanted audio & subtitle tracks.

    2. Combined the two titlesets using VOBedit and IFOedit

    3. Used PgcEdit to assign the layer break and burn to DL DVD

IIRC after step 2 my combined titleset fit onto a DL disc w/no compression, however it was so big that there was not a good place for the layer break. So I did some slight compression to give me a good layerbreak option.
