You can use Goldwave to increase the source audio volume, just open the avi in goldwave, increase audio volume, save as wav. Then add back the new audio to the original video with virtualdubmod and convert the new avi to dvd. Or use the new wav audio directly in your converting tool if possible.

    or search for normalize.

Thanks for the fast reply. But how come the original AVI before converting has Normal Audio?

  7. Seems the program with which you are converting thinks that your audio IS normal. Only you think it is very low volume. . So you need to tell the programm: The volume is low. Increase it, please. If the program doesn't understand that, get rid of it and use another better one.

could it be because i am merging two avi's part1 and part2 togather with VirtualDob?

  9. No.
Bah, I just realised that in the avi you have beautiful 5.1 sound. After conversion with VSO I bet your sound is 2.0. I would use the original 5.1 sound to create DVD - much much better.

  11. Load your vobs in ReJig File mode. Demux the video stream (m2v).
Load the avi in VDubMod. Stream->Stream list. Click on the right at demux.
Load the video in muxman. Load the audio. Set the output folder. Click Start.
If the result is bigger than dvd (4.37 GB) load the output folder from muxman in DVDShrink and save it as ISO. Burn the ISO to disk with ImgBurn.

  13. If you're using AC3Filter to decode AC3 use Start -> All Programs -> AC3Filter -> AC3Filter Config to bring up the config dialog. In that dialog change the master gain to +20 dB. That should fix the audio level problem.

But as abond suggested, using the original 5.1 soundtrack would be better.

  15. how can you tell that the audio is low,is it being listened to on a 5.1 system?,if so,just turn up the volume.
the avi's are being played on a pc,i take it,with just 2 speakers, and the volume on the pc media player turned up to full, and the pc speakers the same way..if so,i dont think theres anything wrong with what the vso prog has done.--try all the pc settings at default..for windows its about 50%,thats how my xp was when it was new,i adjusted that, and then various media players through time have had there volumes turned up too..
and divxtodvd converts 5.1 avi's to 5.1 dvds,so its not stereo only as a finished product.
try above methods,or just live with it,i still reckon its normalised audio, just you need to boost it to make you happy.
good luck on fixing it,and i hope you enjoy the jackie chan movie.!

  17. thats the reason then,a 5.1 soundtrack through a stereo tv-you will get low volume.
