  1. When i covert .avi xvid to Mpeg 2 using TMPG i lose the audio
    it works fine with any other the audio is MPEG Layer-3
    what could be causing this problem

    tmpgenc doesn't like some mp3 audio(usually vbr mp3 audio). convert the audio to wav and use tmpgenc, www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc#problems

    or use something else like divxtodvd.

    http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/ExtractAudio.htm , then specify your XviD as the video source, and that WAV as the audio source.
    If in doubt, Google it.
