I authored a DVD with DVD LAB PRO (normal setting: VTS Menu + Movie). So I have menu and chapters to select. My intention is to have the date and time stamp of the recorded video as a subtitle so that I can choose to turn it on/off. Set default to turn on the subtitle.

The date stamp (*.sub) extracted from the avi file using Dv-Datecode and converted to *.srt using subtitle workshop. Then I created ISO image by TMPGENC DVD Authored.

Load the image in DAemon Tool and play using PowerDVD. If I choose the DVD to play from the first chapter then I will have subtitle turn on but if I choose other chapter I will not have the subtitle appear at all. The subtitle also does not appear if I switch to another chapter during playback of fast forward/rewind

If you play the compiled DVD you had before creating the ISO (i.e. the DVD produced by DLP) do the subs work ?

What was actually happen is that if I just let the DVD plays from the start to the end I will have the subs on (set default to ON during authoring). If I switch to the next chapter or fast forward then it will take quite a long time to show up. Whenever I interrupt the subs display, (switch ON/OFF) then it kind of lag to re-appear.

I open *.sub with subtitle workshop to convert it to *.srt and it works fine. It shows OK on the preview panel.

This is how the edited *.sub extracted by Dv-Datecode.(check the bold frame no).

Then I found that if the period of every single line is reduced, then the subs switching (during subtitle selection ON/OFF) will be available without much delay. Somehow during the subs display it will be "blinking" much more since the duration is quite short. Here the examplecompare the bold frame no with the previous sub).

Is this happening due to the limititation of subtitle function for DVD?
