I am watching a japanese movie, with japanese language and english subtitles, and ths ubtitles are difficult to read.

I am using media player classic 6.4.8.2 and I know there are settings for SUBTITLES however they seem to have no effect on DVD subtitles? when I play a DVD and try to adjust the size/ font/ color of the subtitles the settings have no effect on the subtitles I see on the screen

Is it possible to adjust the subtitles for a DVD, and if so how? (and before I'm asked, yes I did verify these are removable subtitles and not part of the actual video)

DVD subtitles are bitmaps, therefor you can't change the font, etc. Colours you should be able to change. If you want full control, you need to convert to text.

so on any "store-bought" DVD there is no way to change the size/font of subtitles? I would assume then that the subtitle options within Media Player Classic are only for subtitles/subtitle files that might be associated with an AVI file?

No, they are for any text subtitles.

text subtitles. meaning any subtitles that are provided as separate files as in the case of select MPG/AVI videos? which would NOT include "store-bought" DVDs with subtitles, whihc would be "un-alterable"

No ANY text subtitles, external or internal. Regular DVD subtitles as I said use bitmaps. If MPC's subtitle render supports CC's and a DVD had them then you would be able to change the font, etc. for them.

Also, just because a sub is external doesn't mean that you can control the font, etc. since they could be VOBSub's, in which case once again they are bitmap based.
