  1. I am curious what Source and Transform Filters I should disable in the MPC-HC settings menu.

    I am using:
    • Media Player Classic - Home Cinema
    • RARFileSource
    • Haali Media Splitter
    • CoreAVC
    • AC3Filter

For the Source Filters, I disabled:
    • DTS/AC3
    • Matroska
    • MP4/MOV
    • MPEG PS/TS/PVA

For the Transform Filters, I disabled:
    • AC3
    • DTS
    • H264/AVC (DXVA)
    • H264/AVC (FFmpeg)

With the Filters that I have installed, are there any other Source/Transform Filters that I can disable? Also, did I disable a Source/Transform Filter that I shouldn't have?

There's no right or wrong answer. Depends on what directshow filters you have installed
and whether you want mpc-hc to handle it or not. Unless there is some circumstances,
I don't think it makes too much difference.

However, saying that, you seem to have set off with some purpose; you haven't really explained the thinking behind it.

  3. I just want to eliminate redundancy. I want to make sure that I have the least things processing the data. I was just looking for a list of things to disable in MPC-HC that duplicate the list of Filters I am using.

Seems like the ultimate in removing redundancy would be to uninstall the codecs and use mpc-hc's filters/routines by themselves.
I don't think functions get duplicated, even if they're both installed/available - can you give an example?

  5. In MPC-HC, when you go to Play>Filters, you see the filters that are actively working I guess. If I leave the DTS/AC3 Filters in MPC-HC enabled, you will see an extra item related to that in addition to AC3Filter. I don't know if there were any ill effects of having both of those showing up in that menu but I would like to eliminate the redundancy if possible.

I listed the things that I thought were redundant to the external Filters I have installed. If anyone could tell me if I got it exactly right or if there are other redundancies I could get rid of, that would be great.

I am under the impression the external Filters I am using, either add functionality or are better than what MPC-HC comes with.

I think the answer depends on what directshow filters you have installed, and which are active.
Some of the included filters work very well, such as the H.264/AVC dxva filter.

I've never seen the situation you describe - I'll take a look at my own mpc-hc setup and see if anything
jumps out at me. ON the otherhand, you could scrap mpc-hc and just use a directshow-enabled player, such as WMP.
