This isn't really a problem, it's actually a solution. I'm just not sure why it occurs....
I've noticed if a video plays choppy in Media Player Classic, for some reason if you right-click anywhere on the video and leave the right-click-menu open, the video will miraculously play as smooth as a babies bottom for as long as you keep the menu extended (dropped). (only a small portion of the menu has to cover the video for it to work. If you position it just right, you can see the whole video screen without blocking any video.)
It works for Mpegs, Avi, and others. I don't think it works for wmv files tho. Test it yourself.
If anybody can explain why this happens or has discovered this also, please comment.

I don't have that problem and I haven't heard of anyone else having it.
What do you have your output set to? Overlay VMR9? What video card? -
AGAIN, this IS NOT a problem, it's just an interesting and potential solution for choppy video in Media Player Classic.
My videocard is within the motherboard. Whatever you call it in that situation is what it is. It may not even be called a videocard it really doesn't matter. Every setting is set to default. Again, i'm sure that my situation isn't a freak occurence. It must have to do with something specific, for example:
The video plays smooth and frames aren't dropped when a right-click menu is displayed over the video because more processor priority is being given to the MediaPlayerClassic program when a command is likely to occur (say, from a rightclick menu being dropped down)...
In other words, when the processor's focus is on the media player it plays smoother than if some other higher priority program was draining processor power away... and by opening a right-click menu it directs that much more processor attention towards the MPC resulting in smoother playback. Of course, I base this theory on absolutely nothing other than how computer logic seems to work.
So, if I'm wrong and you know what the deal is... please tell me. However, if you don't have anything to add but you're just looking to correct someone with less tech experience than you, then please spare me. I was simply throwing out a possible idea to speed up this topic and/or to get the forum members that i know are witnessing this same occurence to chime in. Also, i don't see any other reasonable explanation as to why this is happening, so my lil theory is most likely the potential solution that seems most relevant. and if I did figure it out all by myself, then along with a pat on the back, I will have earned the nomination for most irrelevant indepth ranting and raving from a forum member award.
If you know anyone with a semi-slow computer... (~300-600MHertz or x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3) [it seems at this speed processor, video barely gets by playing smoothly at it's normal sized view] ...please let them know that their experience is needed. If someone other than me verifies that this right click menu effect/loophole/solution is common or at least makes sense to them, then it will make this topic legitimate, and an angel will get it's wings or whatever... throw me bone here. -
The same thing happens to me with some videos while playing in VirtulDub. My guess is that right clicking disables overlay so it plays faster.
