Yes, this is video-related news. Nowadays, it's getting harder and harder to locate blank VHS tape at a reasonable price. The cheapest I could find a T120 tape for online is 88 cents each (if you buy in bulk) plus postage. Well, I came upon a find today. Dollar Tree stores (if you have one in your area) are currently selling JVC SX-120 (2 hour) blank VHS tapes for a buck each. If you still use VHS tapes and have a Dollar Tree store in your area, check it out. My local area store manager says she doesn't know when they'll be discontinued ... but suspect they will be eventually (possibly soon).

P.S. FWIW, as I was walking toward the cash register, I saw something else they're selling for a buck ... a PC/Mac compatible 2-button mouse. Amazing. I got one just as a backup.

There is always alot of junk at dollar stores, but when you sift through the junk, you can usually find quite a few bargains.

Dollar Tree is a regular retail store, though ... as opposed to a thrift-style store. The JVC tapes are unused - still in their original plastic wrap.

dollar tree is a pretty good dollar store.. we have 2 other dollar stores in our town, but they are crappy.. our dollar tree is kept away from "low income" areas, the store is clean, and the merchandise is pretty decent..

i'm not sure why anyone would need a blank vhs tape though :P

Check drug stores like cvs. Many still sell vhs tapes new.

But your best bet is the discount stores. Just be sure they're the name brand tapes. The noname tapes will probably break up after a few uses. Though some are decent quality.

I still have one of those old RCA full-sized VHS camcorders. It may be old but it works great. And when I've taken a video, I can slap the tape right into my VCR and capture it through my Hauppauge 150 card for DVD burning purposes. The picture quality looks pretty good to me, too.

Anyhow, I'm going to a convention soon and may capture as much as 25 hours of video while I'm there ... later to be burned to DVDs. But, I was so pleasantly surprised to see these new VHS tapes for a buck that I bought 20 of them.

I was originally thinking of going to my local Fry's store ... and that's exactly what I expected to find there (no-name tapes). Glad I stopped off at Dollar Tree first.

JVC is a good tape too. I bought a dozen or more of them some weeks back, local Dollar Tree.

If I need VHS. I go to Walgreens. They usually have Maxell T-120s for $1, and T-160s for $1.50 in multipacks rebates (and I've ALWAYS gotten my rebates back fast from them), or some sort of decent sale.

Maxell tapes are not that good. They changed formulas back in 1999 or so, and tapes have not been the same since. The days of HiFi, Gold and Silver are long gone.
