  1. When burning *.img files, i rename them to isos, and try burning them, however they're 4485 gigs and theres only 4482 gigs available.

The discs im using are memorexs +R.
The Burner is - Lite On SOHW 1633S DVDRW

I thought that maybe theres an overburn option but i can't find it in nero, alc. 120 or under drive options.

Thanks for the help in advance,

    -Pete.

    4482 gigs ??
    NO way!!
    I'd believe 4.482 gigs.
EDIT1 Burn them to an image file, mount them in dvdshrink, let it shrink 1%
    and be done with it.
Edit2 I'm assuming they are video files....

A burned DVD-5 is actually 4.37GB. If you can manage to overburn to 4.485GB it may not be playable on a lot of settops. If you were to burn to the very edge of the DVD, you would likely get errors anyway. Make them the correct size or shrink them as mentioned above. Or go to dual layer discs if you can afford them. What are you using to create the DVD file?

  6. The file was originally an IMG that i renamed to ISO and have mounted on alc 120. Its a dvd of a show, consisting of small vobs (< 1 meg) and a set of large vobs (VTS_01_01 ~ VTS_01_05).

I figure the best way to make it fit, is to edit out like a minute or 2 out of the last vob file. I just tried using VideoReDo, and removed the last minute of the file. The only output option on VideoReDo is mpg. I renamed the mpg as vob, and then burnt the compilation using nero.

Just watch the dvd, and it works halfway through the edited section, but then loops to the begining of the section edited.

So right now, im looking for a program that'll let me removed a minute off the last video file, and still work fine on my dvd player.

Thanks for the replies so far
    came to the right place,

You may want to check out DVD Remake (pro)..It can blank out .VOBs on a cell by cell basis, and in this case could be very easy to cut down to size for you..Is this by chance a commercial disc backup, as opposed to a "homebrew"?..
Would be easiest in this case via Remake/Remake Pro, as of course there's typically those annoying studio intros, FBI warnings, even pre-main trailers - blank out one or two of those cells and you've got your required "shrink".

Just a few tips on this - make sure you do a test compile before burning..It can output only a select portion of the "movie(s)", about 30 secs each chapter or something, thereby giving a working viewable output, but not taking the time to do the whole 4+ gig run..And the demo version of remake only is able to do this "dry run" anyway, it's not possible to output the full thing anyway..

There's other programs out (FREEWARE) that will accomplish the same thing (ie IFOedit/VOBedit?), but afaik theres no built in preview pane to make the process of seeing what cells, etc get cut, w/out using 3rd party apps.

p.s. Baldrick posted a news bit yesterday (i think) on a 10% (or 15%?) discount on DVD Remake/Remake Pro v3

This is no big deal. Just use dvdshrink. It even has a preview pane.

Rename it to an ISO and then open in DVD Shrink. You should be able to shrink it by 3 MB in a few minutes. Also, if it's only 3 MB over, maybe try burning to -R. I remember reading here they have about 6MB more of space.

  10. You're not trying to write the ISO to a disc in data form, are you ? If so that might explain the problem - an ISO is a (very) small amount larger than the data that comprises it because it includes a few parameters that "describe" how to write the disc that wouldn't be present if you were just to copy the source data across.
