  1. hi
guys, first time poster long time reader. I like many use cc.covers. but find there covers to be low resolution. I increase the pixels but find a bit of the end cutting off or haveing to cut off a bit of one side so the movie tittle fits on the spine. Can anyone siggest some good (free trial) programs that are gona help me with this problem, maybe even some good quality cover sites.

p.s i like to munch instead of crunch which is why i need a bunch

One of the problems is that the size of a DVD cover insert often isn't the right size even if the resolution is good. Most of them are scanned and they sometimes aren't trimmed or centered. I load the cover image into Photoshop and first set a reference line down the center of the spine. I then trim the edges if necessary to clean up the rough edges as well as make sure both edges are equidistant from the center reference line. I then use image size and set the exact size - both height and width. This allows you to set the necessary dimensions even if you use DVD cases that aren't the standard 14 mm. thickness. If you don't have Photoshop, many graphics software programs have an image sizing function.

Oh, a side note. Most of these DVD cover images are jpeg files so try to do all of your cleanup, resizing etc. without saving until you have finished making all your changes. Since jpeg files use a compression scheme, each time an image is saved, it is degraded by the compression so if you save it multiple times, you will hurt the quality of the image.
