Hello all
My friend has just purchaced a video camera.
after installing the supplied software on the computer then pluging in the camera in the usb port he gets the following error message.
Device can perform faster if you connect to a high speed USB.2.0 port
For a list click here.
There are no high speed USB host controllers installed on this computer
The computer has six usb ports 4 on the back 2 on the front.
so we do not understand why the error.
The PC is a p-4 1.6 256 ram.
Any advice is much appreaciated

Simply put. the computer has USB 1.0 compliant ports, which will result in slower transfers of pictures. The device may work or maynot. Suggest your friend buy and install a USB 2.0 add on card. This will allow the camera which is USB 2.0 compliant to transfer at the correct speed and thus avoid the error.

Or better yet - a FireWire card, if the cam has FireWire.

. . or purchase a card with both USB2 and firewire. You can usually find them for the same price as USB2 cards. Even if you don't have firewire now, you never know what the future of your computing habits may hold.
