I found a piece of Freeware on Versiontracker today called "JES Noise Cleaner." It says it will remove noise in video.

More importantly (for some at least), it says it REMOVES LOGOS! I have seen various threads over the years asking for logo removal on the Mac. The answer has always been, "You can do it on Windows, but not on the Mac." Well here it is, finally.

I haven't used it yet, but if anyone else uses it, please post your impressions of the program (especially the logo removal).

    Here's the download link:

It did sound a bit too good to be true. Even the Windows solutions sound too good to be true. I had hope that it would work because JES De-Interlacer is a good program. Oh well.

I'll keep trying it. having to guess where the logo is on the video doesn't exactly make it easy to use.

  5. Down-loaded and attempted to use the logo remove option.

    Problems I encountered:
    - it appears you can only remove logos from the top right or top left hand side of the screen. I live in a country where all the logos are in the bottom left and right hand sides.
    - no idea how the co-ordinates for setting the logo position works. I did experiment but again it seems only to accept ul or ur positions.
    - program crashed a few times. fair enough. it's new and free and doco does warn about this.
    Results:
I did manage to ad a green box to the top left hand side of short piece of video with the logo remove option.

It looks like a nifty program and I hope JES continues to work on and refine it a bit more. I'd love to see it working really well.

  6. Just wanted to update my last post on logo removal.
Spent some time learning how to use JES Video Cleaner. It's not that hard, but all things take time and reading (some) of the manual helped.

    It does actually work.

The "diminish" option worked quiet well, but depended on the background to be successful. So it was sort of gone, back, gone, back. Dark background worked well, bright sections caused problems.

I was unable to get "interpolate" to work at all. In preview it was fine, but in execution all I got was a green box were the log removal was meant to take place.

"Use Mask" again took a while to figure out fully. It did seem to work reasonable well depending on the logo, and whether or not you were able to make a mask or wether you tried the auto option. Making a successful mask and placing the mask seemed to be the biggest issue. Especially when you live in a country where logos are at the bottom of the screen.

It's version one, and it does work. Just not that well. (Sorry). I'll keep at it. Maybe it's me. I hope Jes manages to improve this option, as I think it'll prove popular.
