  1. Hi,

Anyone know of a good program that can remove a TV logo from VOB files? Something that blurs the logo out together with the surroundings. I need something that can do this from VOB files, I don't want to have to convert the files to AVI in order to do this.
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks

    1) As soon as you add a filter (logo removal filter) you need to re-encode the video.
    2) You will still need to convert the series of VOB files to something resembling one, large MPEG (VOB2MPEG) file in order for many programs to accept the footage anyway. Your expectations are somewhat irrational.

  3. hech54,
    thanks for your reply.
So could you name a good program for this purpose, that will accept the files if I convert them to MPEGs? Also will I be able to save them as MPEGs as well after adding the filters? I prefer to deal with AVI files.

  5. Give us a small sample of the VOB, preferably one that has a frame or more with the logo over a dark background, like over a fadeout or the logo over something real dark in that particular part of the frame. 10 seconds or so will be plenty. And you don't have to convert to MPEG. AviSynth has a number of delogo filters and can work with unconverted VOB files. But the filter you use is at least partly determined by the type of logo.

So far you've suggested at least 2-3 ways to screw up the video.
The logo "removal" filters make a big messy blob that looks worse than the logo ever did.
And then re-encoding over and over again loses quality each time.

There are several delogo filters for Virtualdub and Avisynth.

However, if you just need to obscure the logo, rather than trying to replace the background, you can make a subtitle to act as an overlay that can cover the logo, without any reencoding.
