I recently reinstalled my windows XP, and I reinstalled nero, but now it wont give me an option of making a dvd with my files. I used to have an option to make a dvd, and add my mpeg video files. But now that is gone, I am just wondering if theres anything I need to do, or if its my version of nero?
THanks,
Dain

Have you cleaned your laser lens lately?
Have you selected the right burner option in Nero?
It might be set for cd. -
Set for dvd in nero, I have changed options so its burn to dvd drive, and to hardrive, I get the same result. What is the best way to clean my laser lens?

Some will tell you to take the drive apart.
I have always had good luck with a store bought laser lens cleaner. -
I don't think it has anything to do with cleaning your lens. If the lens is dirty NERO might say you have no disk in the drive but, even with no media in the drive you still have DVD as a choice in NERO. Right?
I think you need to get the latest update for your DVD burner. I know that when I first got my new drive a while back Nero acted like I didn't have a DVD drive and so didn't offer DVD burning until I flashed my drive.
Set for dvd in nero, -
What Version of Nero are you using? Is it the newest Version?

Dains11, I am having the EXACT same problem as you. I have been using Nero 6 for months now with Windows Me and have had no problems. I recently bought a new computer that of course had Windows XP and all of a sudden the option to add my video files to make a dvd is GONE. I tried to update off the nero site but it still does not work, and I contacted nero customer support and got nothing. Good Luck and if you find out what the problem was please send me a message and I will do the same. Thanks again

I have the most updated version of nero, and its not the option for dvd period, its just the option to create a dvd using dvdfiles thats gone. It used to be on favorites before I reinstalled windows xp. Could it be a problem with windows maybe?

Dains, like I said I am having the exact same problem with Nero. I was able to make a dvd with the "add video files" option and once I upgraded to Windows Xp that feature has dissapeared. I tried the update patch and nothing seems to work. I contacted nero and the customer service is weak to say the least. I am going to keep on trying to see what I can do about this.

you need to have the right license number from nero to activate the dvd burning option

no thats not it, I just needed to get the 2 updates on nero's site. Tecmobo...U need to update both the first one and the second, once u do that the option comes up again.

I'm using W2K pro and had the same problem with the Nero Ultra edition. I found that when I'm in administrator mode Nero gives me the DVD option, but if the user has no adminstrator privileges (power user privileges are not good enough) Nero enables only the CD option. Hope it helps.

thanks Werder, yeah I tried the update off the Nero site and nothing seems to work. So it sounds like what you said is true, and I guess I am out of luck. Funny thing is, it worked with Windows Me but now that I am running XP the option is gone.
