Now this problem has been addressed when the subtitle file is derived from a DVD, but I have soley an .avi file and a .sub file to go along with it. All I am attempting to do with ffmpegx is get the subtitles to go onto the .avi movie. I would prefer the final product of the encoding be an .avi, but the subtitles only appear in the preview mode under filters, once the movie is fully encoded, they do not appear. If I attempt to encode to an mpeg, it doesn't do anything at all. Is there any reason why the subtitles don't appear in the final product, but do in preview mode?
Thanks in advance.

To burn .sub into mpeg-2 you must encode with "DVD mpeg2enc" and enable the "Decode with mplayer" option.
