  3. Try MPEG Streamclip (it uses QuickTime)...
    ... or MP4Box (Yamb, My MP4Box GUI) or Avidemux, but with saving to MP4 container and if A/V is compatible with MP4.

    you dont need to convert to mp4 with avidemux(just split and remux):

    1- split/cut with avidemux, change container to mp4, in the video and audio settings select "copy" and then save video (dont forget to add .mp4 to the name)
