I ain't no newbie or anything to DVD burning and stuff
but this is my first time trying to decompress a DVD-9 with DVD Shrink.
It does everything properly, and when it starts compressing, it gives me an program error msg, and it fails on me.

Anyone else have a problem similar to this one before?

  4. Give us some more details about how your using the program, and as Baldrick said, what movie are you having the problem with.
We need a bit more info so we can provide you with some chance of curing you problem.

Plenty of people use DVDshrink with success, including myself, so if we can help we will.

I use DVD Decrypter to rip the dvd to the hd. Then I shrink the file with DVDShrink. Have you tried this method? DVD Decrypter is freeware also.

I tried using DVD Decrypter to rip all the files. After I ripped all the files onto my Hard Drive, I opened DVD Shrink. I went to "Open Files" and went to the folder. It gave me this error msg:

Then I tried ripping straight from the DVD using DVD Shrink. And I got this error msg in the middle of the ripping stage at 45%:

Does this look familiar to anyone? Im using an LG 4x DVD Writer. Bought it September 2003.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks[/img]

  7. What version of DVDdecrypter are you using, the latest version is 3.5.4.0 and this is the version you should be using and always keep it updated.

Did you rip in File mode ?, and if so what are your File mode settings,

Look under Tools, Settings, File mode and see if it they are as follows:-

Rerip the DVD again with the settings like this and see what happens when you open them in DVDShrink.

In your first post you state that you get the error when DVDShrink starts compressing, in your last post you state that you get the error when opening the files into DVDShrink - are these two different errors ?

    Update both DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink.
Rip the DVD in ISO mode with DVDDecrypter.
Open the ISO image with DVDShrink.
    Shrink away.

  11. Those errors look familiar to me or at least I've had similar looking error messages. All I know is that the errors I recieved while using DVDshrink were fixed 'accidentally' by me and I still used DVDshrink to backup the same DVDs that gave me errors.

    Things to try.

    Rebooting is always worth trying.
Check the space on your HD to be sure that your 'shrink' will fit.
I had to 'scan' my hd to remove fragments that were taking up space.
Maybe the original DVD is dirty or scratched - maybe a bit of a clean will help. If this is the case I usually try to copy the DVD to HD and then DVDshrink the files on my HD. Sometimes a DVD in bad condition will require a few retries by the DVDplayer to read it and I'm not sure DVDshrink likes this very much.
I wonder if running AnyDVD helped me - I do play DVDs from more than one region.

Sorry if I haven't given you a direct answer but at least one of those things fixed the errors I got using DVDshrink.
