Before I start I have to stipulate that I do not advocate copying DVDs or support in any way the duplication of rented DVD's.

I have only used the following procedures when a DVD would not play on my DVD player for some reason or other yet will play on the PC.

When I have purchased a DVD which will not play on the DVD player (even though it will support Dual Layer DVD's) I have converted them using software called DVDShrink3.2

On one instance when the DVD was copy protected - I installed another piece of software called DVD43 which removes protection.

AGAIN I ONLY DO THIS ON MY OWN PURCHASED (NOT RENTED) DVD'S WHICH WILL NOT PLAY ON DVD PLAYER YET WILL PLAY ON PC.

    Yet I have a problem.

With this particular DVD I have just purchased, it will play on the PC but not on the LG RH7500. When I try to remaster it using the above utilities, the PC reboots itself halfway through the burn process.
Can anyone advise why the PC keeps rebooting, if this can be overcome, and how I can go about converting this DVD into a format so that I can actually watch it on my TV instead of having to sit up at the PC to watch it.

    Thanks in advance

You don't need to convert anything. You simply just need to compress it to a smaller size.
What program are you using for the actual burning?

Assuming you are virus and malware free then I'd suggest you check that your fans (case, PSU and CPU) are clean and working since this could be an overheating problem.

Other than that you might want to try ripping the DVD with DVDFab HD Decrypter 5.2.3.2 (http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm) and then running DVD Shrink on the resulting version of the DVD on the Hard Disk. I've used this combination for some time without any problems.

The burn the shrunk image with ImgBurn

No, you don't have to stipulate that. And by the way, your statement says, and I quote:

I do not advocate copying DVDs

and then you talk about copying a DVD. Dude, if you're gonna be so anal that you put a disclaimer in your post twice, then you might want to not make open ended statements and instead specifically say:

I do not advocate copying DVDs that have not been purchased

Anyway, take a chill pill and calm down. This is not freakin' Doom9, OK? Nobody is going to nut out over what you want to do and anyway, copying DVDs you purchased is legal in some places and copying DVDs you don't own is also legal in some places.

For burning, use the free ImgBurn. There's really nothing better anyway, it's free, and it's just not worth using other burning programs which may screw up things like yours is.

Using good quality media, which basically means Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden, is always a good idea too and we don't recommend using whatever cheap crap you can find at a local store. Use other burning programs and other media at your own risk and know that problems can occur if you do.

You also might clarify what you mean by 'burning'. Normally that is what is done by the DVD burner with a program like ImgBurn. If your conversion fails during the transcoding with Shrink, I would also suspect something like a CPU overheat. If it fails during the actual burning process, then the burner, the media or the burning program is suspect.

Shrink cannot burn by itself. It uses Nero or the old DVD Decrypter for that. If you aren't using ImgBurn, give it a try. If you are using Nero or ImgBurn, both generate logs that may tell you the reason for the burn failure.

If the failure is while Shrink is running, try using DVDFab HD Decrypter first. Some newer DVDs have some fairly complex encryption, Sony in particular.
