Does anyone know if the Plextor Convertx PX-M402U works with WinDVR from Intervideo. I asked tech support and got no answer from Plextor. Intervideo said if it is not on their compatible list, then they cannot guarantee it will work. Of course, the PX-TV402U is not on the list but ships with WinDVR. I am thinking the PX-M402U is the same thing as the PX-TV402U except without the TV tuner, which I do not need.

    Thanks,

    Richard

  2. Not sure but the oem stuff from Plextor is usually programmed specific to their units. As an example, Ulead VS 8 SE now shipping with the Convertx works but download trial from Ulead.com does not.
Heard a lot of good things about GB-PVR and it now supports the convertX. I would consider checking it out and it's free! It should do the same thing as WinDVR. I believe it uses the codecs from your Intervideo install.

Well, I finally received a response from Plextor. My WinDVR software will not work with the PX-M402U, but I can buy a version from Plextor that will work for $49. I guess I will try GB-PVR.

I use GBPVR and support by creating funs skins for it. I've used WinDVR and it doesn't work, You could try MainConcepts PVR 1.1.3 instead if you find GBPVR Software Recorder Plugin for WDM cards doesn't work for you as well. I have MainConcepts PVR 1.13 for my Pinnacle PCTV Pro Stereo dbx card and WinTV PVR-150 running GBPVR v0.92.8.

Plextor are base hardware encoder so there for you can't use AVI tools.
But you do have some SageTV, GB-PVR
