Hi all...I am looking for something to crop my captured mpeg2 video. I have a pvr 150 (mce) that I use to capture my home video through s-video. For whatever reason, there is a thin line at the bottom of the screen that looks like distorted video and there are two small black lines on the sides. Regular tv input doesn't do it, so I assume it's outputting from the camcorder like that.

How would I go about cropping the video? I don't like the idea of paying 70 bucks for a single function so freeware is preferred. I was also hoping it would be able to do this without degrading quality. I assume this is possible since I can cut/join the files all day long without re-encoding.

    Thx a bunch!

You can't crop without reencoding the mpg. Most encoders can crop like tmpgenc plus, mainconcept mpeg encoder.

Do not crop it. If you are capturing from VHS the line on the bottom is probably "overscan". That area will not be shown on your TV set.
Search for overscan here in the forum and you will have more information about it.

The source video doesn't matter, the tv crops about 5% of all kind of video to hide crap.
